About the Evaluation Branch

As of September 22, 2005, the NIH Office of Evaluation became a part of the new NIH Office of Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives (OPASI). We are now formally the Evaluation Branch (EB), Division of Evaluation and Systematic Assessment (DESA), OPASI, OD.

What We Do:

The Evaluation Branch oversees the allocation of the Evaluation Set-Aside fund and collaborates with the evaluation staff in the Offices of the Assistant Secretary for Health and Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The EB consults on the planning, conduct, and reporting of evaluation activities and represents the evaluation community at the National Institutes of Health.
